Acne treatment
Treating a skin disease in which oil, bacteria and inflammation feed each other, using medication alongside procedures.
- Treatment time
- 15–40 min
- Downtime
- 0–3 days
- Sessions
- 4–12 sessions
How it works
Acne is a medical condition, not a cosmetic concern. Blocked pores, excess sebum, bacterial growth and inflammation form a chain, so treating one link alone invites relapse. Topical and oral medication reduce the causes while extraction and laser clear the lesions already there.
Used for
- Inflammatory acne that keeps returning
- Nodules and cysts that tend to scar
- Oily skin that skincare alone cannot control
Cautions
- Isotretinoin is absolutely contraindicated in pregnancy and requires contraception
- Squeezing spots leaves scars and pigmentation
- Improvement usually takes two to three months and may worsen briefly first
Aftercare
- Cleanse twice a day with a gentle cleanser, no more
- Use an oil-free moisturiser and sunscreen
- Do not stop prescribed medication early because the skin looks better
