How it works

An incision around the ear lifts the skin; the fascial layer beneath it, the SMAS, is pulled and fixed, and the excess skin is trimmed. Where non-surgical lifting tightens tissue indirectly by contracting it, here the tissue is physically moved and sutured. The effect is larger and lasts longer — and so does the recovery.

Used for

  • Sagging that no longer responds to non-surgical lifting
  • A jawline that has lost its boundary with the neck
  • Tissue that has descended deeply from the cheekbone to the mouth

Cautions

  • A major operation requiring general anaesthesia or deep sedation
  • Incision lines remain around the ear, and facial nerve injury is possible
  • Recovery and follow-up make it unsuitable for a short itinerary

Aftercare

  • A compression band is worn for one to two weeks; swelling and bruising last three to four
  • Sutures come out in stages between day 7 and 14 depending on the area
  • The final shape settles over three to six months
